Appeals

The right of Appeal is a fundamental and important step in the Criminal Law process.

Time limits apply in relation to all appeals, whether appeals against sentence or conviction.

Whilst the filing of an appeal requires initial haste, it is paramount that a defendant is provided with an informed and considered advice as to the prospects of a successful appeal.

Notwithstanding the time factor, Andrew’s specialist experience ensures that proper appeal advice is provided after measured consideration of all relevant issues.

If a defendant is sentenced to a term of imprisonment, an Application for Bail pending the hearing of the appeal may be undertaken, dependant on the length of the sentence imposed and the prospects of success in the appeal proper.

Experienced Senior Counsel are commonly briefed to appear on behalf of appellants at appeal hearings before the Court of Appeal.

The appeal process, the “final step” in a criminal proceeding, is undertaken by Andrew utilising all of his specialist experience and skills.
