McGinness & Associates

Daniel Barker, Solicitor

Daniel graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Extended Major in Japanese).

Prior to commencing his career as a solicitor with McGinness & Associates, Dan was appointed as a Judge’s Associate in the District Court at Southport. In that role, Dan worked exclusively with a resident Judge, where he observed hundreds of hours of advocacy in a range of criminal matters.

Dan has worked alongside and observed some of the most eminent judges, barristers and solicitors in Queensland conducting and appearing in numerous criminal trials and hearings. That experience has shaped him into a professional and confident practitioner who knows how to get the best outcome for his clients.

Dan has a unique understanding of the court process, having seen the strengths and weaknesses of both prosecution and defence cases, particularly in jury trials and matters involving sexual offending. Dan knows how important it is to have skilled and experienced lawyers by your side at all stages of the court process.

In addition to his experience in representing clients charged with criminal offences, Dan has a keen interest in quasi-criminal matters. In that regard, Dan has represented clients charged with breaches of the respective Liquor, Gaming, Communications and Media regulatory regimes.

Throughout the entire process Daniel Barker has been very accommodating and professional in his guidance and assistance.

From start to finish Dan worked collectively with me to ensure I was given the best outcome in relation to my matter. His continued guidance throughout my matter allowed me to be well aware of the outcome at all times.

Strong recommendations from 3rd parties showed me early that the decision to go with McGinness & Associates was the best decision. I would not hesitate in referring their name in the future. Above all great prompt service was received from the firm.
